PepsiCo traditionally has manufactured carbonated beverages at large scale.  However their market has become increasingly fragmented with the need for a far greater number of different products that need to be manufactured at small scale.  The integrated manufacturing plants that had been traditionally used were inefficient in handling small batches and slow to be turned round between batches.   STC worked with PepsiCo to devise a flexible process plant that could manufacture a number of different products with little downtime.
